Toddler Proof Christmas Ornaments
I got an incredible deal on a huge (9 foot!) prelit Christmas tree on Black Friday ($7.50!!!!). We had to rearrange the whole living room but by gosh, I found out it retails for $900 so we’re keeping the dang tree.
I soon realized we didn’t have nearly enough ornaments for this beauty and especially not enough that are toddler friendly. I’m all stocked up now after looking everywhere and I wanted to share my favorite places to get toddler proof ornaments.
First – a few tips:
- Opt for variety: instead of the big bucket of plastic ball ornaments, buy a variety of smaller boxes, it looks a lot better on the tree and it’s easier to find shatter proof if you don’t focus on all one type!
- Look for different materials: Cloth, pom poms, twine, bells – all are toddler durable! As long as it doesn’t have tiny things that can be pulled off, you’re good!
- Get some smaller ones so you toddler can play with them taking them on and off the tree – to distract from the strategically placed ones!
HOBBY LOBBY – (All Christmas is currently 50% off!) They have super cute ornaments made of all different materials. I bought, these, these and these!
MICHAELS – I haven’t been this year but the majority of the ornaments I already had were from Michaels in years past. (And if I recall…if you procrastinate enough they’ll be on mega sale on Christmas eve)
KOHLS – I know, you probably don’t frequent Kohls, neither to I. But y’all, they have great variety! And good bargains as well. I will say the website doesn’t do justice to the variety I saw in store.
What about Target and Amazon, you say? I know, they are my go to. But this year they were very disappointing! I’ve been to multiple Target’s and haven’t been able to find anything besides plastic ball ornaments or the cloth stuffed type. And Amazon was just meh. Sad!
Best of luck to you, fellow toddler mama’s! Don’t worry, we can have beautiful, fragile trees in the future! 🙂
